* We groom humanely at Claires dog grooming and we abide by the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
If brushing will cause harm or discomfit to your dog, we will have to take the coat short and start again.

Can I stay with my dog?

* We've found that many dogs settle better in a calm environment without their owners present. This allows us to build trust and a strong bond with your pet, leading to a more relaxed and enjoyable grooming experience.

You may wait in your car in the car park if you wish to hang around.

Alternatively there are many little pubs and places to go. Where you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat while your dog is being groomed.

How often should my dog be groomed?

* The frequency of grooming depends on your dog's breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Generally, regular brushing and occasional baths can suffice for short-haired breeds.

Long-haired breeds may require more frequent grooming to prevent matting and tangles.

Brushing at home every day or just every other day can help to extend the time in between visits to the salon.

But the ideal grooming frequency varies depending on your dog's breed, coat type, desired style and maintenance at home.

Long-haired breeds typically require grooming every 6-8 weeks to maintain their coat health and appearance.

* No... Is the short answer.

While shaving your Golden Retriever may seem like a good idea to keep them cool, it can actually harm their coat and skin. It's best to avoid shaving and opt for regular brushing and cooling measures instead.

How can I make my dog more comfortable during grooming?

   * Positive reinforcement, patience, and gentle handling can help make grooming a positive experience for your dog. Consider introducing your dog to grooming tools gradually and reward good behaviour. And don't wait just for their coats to grown long. Start them young and as soon as they with let you. Just make it A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.
